THE KFC AND KWANI 7 DAY SCREEN WRITING FOUNDATION COURSE

Kenya Film Commission in collaboration with Kwani Trust held a screen writers workshop that encouraged, inspired and challenged up and coming screenwriters who would like to be in the Film and Media Industry. This course was held at no cost to the participants.

This collaboration was to enhance the education that film students and other film enthusiasts get from Screen writing course done in various Film and Media schools.

The main objective of the intensive 7-day Screenwriting Foundation Course was to provide screen writers with a clear overview of the details involved in developing a script. Participants were introduced to the basic elements of storytelling and the screenplay, and were expected to produce a well written treatment that would stand up as a blue print for their scripts.

The course involved lectures and interactive discussions with Charles Liburd an international producer from Netherlands

The Course was designed for KFC by Charles Liburd and Ian Sellar of the London Film School with the participation of Marten Rabarts of the Amsterdam based Binger Film Lab.

The forty one (41) participants who attended the training were mostly Film Students and Amateur Screen writers. At end of the course, Charles Liburd, selected two scripts which were showcased at the monthly Sunday Salon Nairobi session on 23rd November, hosted by Kwani Trust
